I throw it in Photoshop 7, and throw Autolevels at it.

then add a couple points of contrast, and 75% more sharpen, a few more points of black color to the nuetral colors, a couple to the black... and I was happier. Hope you enjoy the finished photo! Tere took it, I love it, and have been trying for something similar (unsuccesfully) for a while.
